Based in Hiroshima Prefecture, Ascon Co., Ltd., is expanding its business throughout the country. The company's specialties include digital-system consulting, publishing and planning the production of printed materials.

To find out more, we spoke to two of staff members: Shinobu Terao, assistant manager of the printing division, and Yukihiro Sugino, section head of the printing division. What led you to first use S-PRIA?
We started evaluating several manufacturers' blankets with the goal of increased durability and stable paper feed. As a result, we chose S-PRIA Emerald and another blanket for a long term test, and finally,have concluded S-PRIA Emerald is the best blanket in terms of stable and durable printing quality. From October 2004 to the present, we have used it exclusively for our web presses.
What makes S-PRIA different from other competitors' products?
We realize that the durability of S-PRIA is significantly improved. Before S-PRIA, gauge loss around the cylinder-gap area was the problem when printing full size of paper. But ever since we started using S-PRIA Emerald, it has been able to print without replacing the blanket. In addition, the blanket installation is easier. It seems more flexible than products of the past.
What is it you're looking for in a blanket?
Not only in S-PRIA but in any blanket, it would be nice to be able to get rid of that rubber smell.
What do you expect from S-PRIA in the future?
