Unix Co., Ltd., celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2006. The company's workshop, Yumetsukuri (literally, "dream maker"), lies at the heart of its business, which centers on the printing of publications, including advertising media such as catalogues, cards, and the know-how and technology to print on materials other than paper.
We asked Masayuki Yamaguchi, the executive director of Unix's headquarters in Hiroshima which continues to forge into new fields of business, about his experiences with S-PRIA.
Press: Heidelberg SM102-8 (three machines)
Blanket: S-PRIA Emerald
We had been using Sumitomo's SB651 and another company's blankets in the past, and we were looking for a blanket that offered even better letter shape dot structure and paper release.
It was at about this time that S-PRIA Emerald was introduced, and after using it, we found that with its balance of features, including superior paper release and ink transfer, it was exactly what our company had been looking for. Beginning in June 2005, we completely switched over to S-PRIA.
First benefit is the wash-up time is reduced. In the past, even when you used an automatic blanket washer, it was difficult to clean up the edges completely, then we needed to wash each of them by hand. But since we switched to S-PRIA, the edges are easier to clean and the manual wash-up time has decreased.
The second advantage is cost-effective: Since we began using S-PRIA, the blanket consumption has decreased, and we have saved time and money.
S-PRIA has outstanding durability. The dot gain value is stable over a longer period, compared to other blankets we've used in the past. By maintaining the dot gain value, I'm convinced we will be able to continue providing high-quality printing.
